I just released a new map for the Theme of the Month contest on fcmaps.net. The new map is called "Cirque du Slaughter" and supports all game modes. The theme was an amusement park, so this map has a roller coaster with buggies on it, a boat ride with a tunnel of love, a Ferris wheel, a mirror house, and some cannons you can shoot. There is also a giant spider which the mirror house is the abdomen. The legs are hollow and each have a thin propane tank in the bottom, which when shot about 80% of the time will go inside the spider and fly around randomly blowing up somewhere. It is fun to kill people like this. It all takes place over 6 grid squares, so the action stays constant even with the giant Ferris wheel that has 20 carts that are all accessible and destructible. This map can be a blast with a full room.

My newest creation is finished. Chutes-N-Ladders is my first attempt at using the sliding effect to make a map. Just wasn't sure how to make the map work. I decided to go with the classic cat and mouse idea, where you chase me, I chase you. Each team spawns in the bar at their headquarters, comes out the front door, slides down a chute, faces an uphill struggle to the enemies backyard, into the bar at their headquarters, comes out the front door... well, you get the picture.
This map supports all game modes but is best on CTD.
Hint: Pull back to slow down and push forward to speed up. Master this and be the first to the diamond everytime.

Thank you, I wish I could have put just a tiny bit more detail into it though.
DWC, I played your Chutes & ladders map. It was fun, but ended up being a sniping map. I will have to try it in CTD mode, I could see how that could be fun. Although very hard to score I bet, one ranked up sniper could keep a team from scoring ever.

I just uploaded my new map "Abandoned".
NOTE: it is just a play around map, not made for any specific modes
It's an abandoned amusement park (yes I started making it before you released cirque =P lol). It consists of a functional waterslide, a funhouse high up in the sky for "glass shooting" (get a bunch of people and shoot the glass out from benethe them and watch as they fall to their death/get cars dropped on them), a rollercoaster (not the greatest but the tunnel at the end of the hill is pretty cool) and a secret cave (to find it, go to the second tunnel of the rollercoaster and look at the wall of rocks closest to you, shoot the barrels and enter the tunnel).
Non functioning rides/attractions include: "you must be this tall to ride" sticks, an airplane ride, and one of those rides that takes you up in the air and drops you. There is also a food area and a slingshot ride, you can get inside the main slingshot ball and it's a cool little place.
Again it's just a for fun map for a few friends to mess around on.

You should enter it in fcmaps.net Theme of the Month. They have a contest with no prizes each month that uses a different theme. This months theme is a theme park that uses 6 or less grid squares. Sounds like a cool level, I will download it and try it out.

DEEZ: That's cause your a sniper. I love when too many people grab a sniper rifle on this map, that's when I either show them who the better sniper is or hit the chute, sprint up the ladder and lay down all the fools stuck in scope mode.

It's very poorly constructed and kind of embarrassing and your cirque is like a Ferrari and my map is like a model T. I am currently working on a really good quality map right now. Set in a space station. It'll be really nice quality and there won't be any clipping or sloppiness in this one.

I didn't notice that you said I could pull back to slow down, that is kinda cool. Add some cover right over the cliff at the level to block snipers from across the way from shooting people on ground level in front of the chutes so more people go out there and take them. If you did this one simple move I think people would move around a lot more on your level. Don't get me wrong, I like the level because I like to snipe, but those poor short range players got a tough time coming as it is. Except you, but you do have an advantage.
Yeah, you have a point there DWC. I rarely use anything but sniper. Is sure is fun when snipers are stuck in scope mode. Have you ever heard of quick scoping in CoD games? It kinda works in FC2 also. Within certain ranges you can aim, then zoom out of aiming mode and shoot and still hit your target. Of course in CoD games I never snipe, it's always the MP40 for me. And the M-60 in CoD4.

I've started to make my levels as hard for myself as possible with few advantages since I am a sniper. And in doing that I have recently came out with "Claustrophobia" and "Cirque du Slaughter" which in my opinion are two of my best maps. I think they are more successful because they are more evenly balanced. Even snipers have to run sometimes, so cover is a must. I know I could have made Cirque du Slaughter better with more cover on the ground, but I just ran out of space. I also wanted to put more iron beams in the Ferris wheel so it could be even more easily traveled from within.

This is a handy piece of info to have. For my next update, I was thinking of putting a bigger tree at the bottom of the chutes to block the vision of the people above and clear it up for the people below. Maybe even some bushes on the hill. I need to move my out of bounds markers so am definately thinking about an update. I would like to get some ideas about this sniping issue before I move on. Yes, I heard of quick sniping from back when I played Socom. I didn't know you could do it on CoD and FC2, but should of figured.

I will be looking through maps listed in the Custom Player Maps section for my PotM contest each month. I won't get around to all of them but I will definitely play the ones that you suggest.

NEW MAP: Watery Wonderland
This map was created for the TOTM contest, but unfortunately may be disqualified because I was unable to build a coaster. Not that I can do it, but I've reached my 40,000 limit. If I still have time, I may throw out an update with a small coaster design but we'll see. Other than that, I have been hosting the map and getting some good feedback. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

Have any of you seen LightUpNsmoke's maps? He uses the collonial fences very often, and builds really cool stuff with them. I have played many of his maps.

Yeah, colonial fencing is one of the easiest brushes to make odd things out of, as long as you remember the un-rendered (hollow) side at the bottom. They look pretty stupid when you can see through them. If the thing I'm trying to construct has any large flat surfaces, I will try to make it out of Platform 3. It takes less memory or you can hide occlusion blocks inside them if you double them up. I don't like to use too much of one thing to build anything, because it kinda looks tacky when you have a plane made out of cement blocks. Ubi should have just given us that plane that is in one of their maps.
