I'm waiting on my heat gun to come in the mail so I can fix it.
But I will be getting a new one in a couple of months.

I'm currently working on my last FC2 map. It's got an airport kind of building and a parking lot nearby, both buildings are connected to each other. I basically want to create some good gameplay balance between those two buildings. In terms of looks, I can't achieve anything fancy, firstly I'm out of ideas, and then the editor has little possibilities compared to such as Cube, and it does not match my mapping style as good as Cube's editor does. So I don't even know if I ever get the map done, maybe I'll have another go at some different theme. But I definitely do want to make one FC2 map.

So I went back to FC2 just for a tiny little flashback kinda thing.

My mission for FC3 is to become a good mapper, so I decided to look back at my old FC2 creations. It was kinda funny.

And I must say, neither do I find any of them visually appealing, nor did they turn out well in terms of getting around (playability), which I could clearly see at the first glance without even having played them another time. Some of them look like made by a 5 year old.

The only creations I found even remotely OK: Groover Mall and Brazos River Brawl, followed by Funk Wellness. Those were mediocre maps which might have the potential to turn out well if I recreated them with a capable editor. Groover Mall's shape was just too simple to be good, but I'm gonna be confident enough to say that it looked pretty okay thanks to the glass surrounding. Brazos River Brawl could possibly be transformed into a COD style CQC river battle map.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not praising my maps. Neither do I ask anyone to tell me my maps were any good. They're unique. But that doesn't make them good.

I don't know what in the world I was thinking when I published most of my maps back then, and how did I not realize they were unpolished, rushed and pretty awful looking to say the least.  Tongue

And that "last map" I was gonna make a year ago is also trash can fodder if I look at it today. Triple-U: Ugly, unpolished, unplayable.

Quite interesting how someone's standards can change over time.

Bottom line, I'm not gonna publish a FC3 map until I find it acceptable, even if it takes forever to get it done. And if I'm not gonna be capable of that, I won't publish any maps at all.

Good bye FC2 for good & FC3 editor I'm ready, show me whatcha got.  Grin
