you can free roam but it says level 2, level 3 etc but you dont have to do them in order & some areas you dont have to explore, single player. get the goty edition(assuming you want it), its got more in an update i think

actually it says the level of your character, i was being foolish

It's a lot like Fallout 3.

Except it's all high fantasy, (Orcs, elves, magic, etc...)

It's got a lot of freedom in what you can do and say.

I recommend it if you're into that sort of thing, or if you are willing to try.
If you don't like magic and all that, you might get bored...

One of the best games in recent years.

Truly breathtaking in some areas, so many hours gameplay and a huge number of quests to do for various different factions.

The Elder Scrolls series as a whole has been amazing so far, Morrowind was one game that took many many many days off me.

If you can ever get to grips with the way levelling works in Oblivion, it's one of the most rewarding RPG's out there. But for someone new it can be very very daunting.

Even if you aren't into the fantasy RPG, you could easily enjoy Elder Scrolls if you like open world games. It's definitely an action-RPG much like Fallout. Hope Bethesda makes another one before we're all on PS4's.  Undecided

Dragon Age was very similar...a bit more RPG but had a much better storyline. Too bad it was horribly buggy.

I got this with my PS3 and I had a good few hours on it but I got a bit annoyed with the turn based battle system......I much prefer Hack n Slash  Grin I did like the look of it though and enjoyed riding around on horseys, lol. Think i got up to the part with the ghost pirate and kinda got stuck....I gor the sword you were supposed to be able to fight him with but he must of been a very high level (or me a very low level, lol) because every hit I had on him barely even damaged him. I may get it again for the sake of a new game to go through though.

I've put hundreds of hours into Oblivion, played through the whole thing about 5 times and discovered everything there is to discover, but I refuse to play it in that awful 3rd person mode lol, it's hideous!

Yeah, oblivion is great fun.

I think it's one of my most played games of all time.
I think I've got about 700 hours logged on three characters. Then maybe another 50 or so just fooling around with other stuff.

In fact this game was half the reason I even bought a PS3. The other half being that my PS2 broke for the second time and I didn't want to pay to have it fixed again. I had played The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind on Xbox but that was a ridiculously glitch-filled game. Frequent crashes and the five minutes it took to load again made it hard to stick with and have fun.

I don't know about you guys but one of my favorite things to do is to make a spell that damages their stamina. Cast it on them and run away when they get mad. Pretty soon their stamina will drop below 0 and they'll bass out on the ground. It's the funniest thing watching them go ragdoll and bust their faces on rocks and all kinds of things. Even funnier if it's done near the top of a cliff and they go flying off. Cheesy

Does anybody still play this?
I know it's available on Ebay for $10 or less.
