Voted for Explosive & Destructable. It doesn't look like it's gonna win though.

@Champ: Doom 1 or 2? It'd be cool to see a recreated Doom level. I've infact tried to recreate Entryway from Doom 2 twice, but got distracted both times and had other ideas, which lead to the fact that in the end neither of those 2 maps looked even a bit like Doom. I'm sure you'd do it better.

Actually the second I started playing doom 2 I recognized your map. I was like, OH THAT'S where it's from. It'd look almost perfect if you made it more that just the gray platform 3 texture. Smiley

Any one of these theme's would be fine by me.

BETA-PAC-MAN Arena

I know the themes not been decided upon yet but I've published a beta version of this map that i'm going to be submitting for the TOTM comp. It's a retro 2 grid arena. It needs some testing and a couple more objects putting in there so as it stands, and maybe a name change so this is just the "bare bones".
Take a look and see what you think. Smiley

i voted 2 grid. sometimes following a theme can be hard work so this theme is just limited to size, the rest is up to you i guess?

So on that PacMan map, are you going to try to make the part that allows you to walk off one end of the map and come back on the other?  You might be able to use some sort of escalator trick to do that.

i was thinking about it, but doing so would've spoiled the floor as id've had to pave over the centre. I've used the purple grass glitch to create the black "background" in a pac man maze.
I decided in the end to put the diamond points in those areas.
As i said in a previous post, ive got a pacman and ghosts to make, im just experimenting with different objects to find suitable ones for the job. I'd rather not go the colonial fence route if i can help it. Wink

I wonder if you can use the flower pots for the Pac Man - and use small rocks for the ghosts.

Well it's looking like it's going to be the 2 Grid Arena.  I'm going to lock this poll tonight at midnight CST.
Let anybody know who might be interested to cast their vote in the next 7.5hrs.

And the winner is... 2 Grid Arena.  But you won't be discounted points if you make a 2 Grid Retro Arena.

Phew - glad 2 grid won - I had also started a 2 grid map early.

CHERUB gave me an idea a couple of days ago - that map with working escalators (Dawn of the DEAD) - which, as stated, doesn't relate to the movie. So I thought I would have a bash at making an indoor mall map that does resemble the Monroeville Mall for fans of Romeros movie Dawn of the Dead.

It will be set on 4 levels:

1 - basement, which will feature generators, pipes etc, and a couple of offices - where Peter and Roger find the store keys.

2 - Lower mall level featuring lots of stores and small stalls along the main central walkway - where Tom Savinis biker gang race up and down, smashing the place up towards the end of the movie, and, of course the lower level of J. C. Penneys with (hopefully) working escalators and that famous elevator. There will also be a car (or two) so that you can race around the ground floor and lock all the doors  Wink

3 - Upper mall level, which will include the upper level of J. C. Penneys, the gun store (from which there will be ladder access through the ventilation system to the office space above), and the corridor/stair access to the offices above.

4 - Office space level, which will feature several small furnished offices.

Not sure if I will include a rooftop access - there should be one of course, but that would mean some exterior detailing - car park, terrain etc- which may push the resource limit too far. Hopefully I'll be able to fit this in too.

I will try to stick as close as possible to the movie - and if you've seen it as often as I have, there should (hopefully) be a lot that will be familiar.

It's about 30-40% done so far (main structure mostly built), but I haven't decided on the name yet - there are several maps called Dawn of the Dead, and 'Monroeville Mall' may be too vague for those who are not familiar with the movie.

Anyway, hopefully this should be a fun map, which would cater for all classes and modes.
No biting allowed though Grin Grin

Sounds cool.  I'm just going to make an abstract 2 grid arena.  Just started on it this morning.
