OK, they work now.  I selected start by placing objects.
That's actually what I do.  I go through the whole editor and select pieces I think I may want to use and scatter them all out so I can see them all at once.   I don't record this part.  Then if I have any underground area I might adjust the land to what I need.  I don't usually mess with the land at first unless I have my boundries set or the map is going to be on a very uneven piece of land.  In that case the land might be partially done first.  I never add foliage til the end, I can't see with all of that.
If I have the whole idea in my head to start, I will estimate the spacial difference of the major differences in land height.  Then I will roughly build what I want, while adjusting objects and land while I'm making the map.
I'm going to work some bugs out on the website this week, but I'm going to try to make a map this or next weekend.

I start with changing the settings. Like turning off the camera automovement, grid, and some other stuff.

I usualy sit down sometimes and think about what im going to make. Trying to get some ideas here and there.
Then i often start to mess around with some object.

When I think about it, I think I could pick them all.
It's a matter of which ideas I have.

I usually do that when i get annoyed with the settings but i like to shape up the hills, mountains, textures, rivers, lakes and underground areas.

I usefully start by setting up the weather, then the terrain, then objects, then I might delete an object and it says something like "Are you sure you want to delete this?" and that's when I go change the editor settings to turn that off and other stuff.
