Reality is where the pizzaman comes from.

There are not much, but a few snow maps out there.
The one that's most known among us I think is Negrumir's "Winter Lodge". I think Negrumir was pretty much the pioneer in snowy maps.

This thread is for tricks on how to make snow and ice, and all that. Here's a few

1. Snow heaps: Use colonial corners, lower them so that you only can see the top. Clone one, put the clone right next to the original. Now clone both, put them near the first two pieces, but don't line them up. Clone these pieces and mix them up jumbled, until you get a white mass on the floor that looks like snow.
This trick makes really cool looking snow, but is pretty much useless for large areas, because the framerate just gets awful. However on small areas you could use this as a fill-in, given that there's enough space left on your map.

2. Glaciers: Use fort pieces, jumble them together, so they look like a white rock. Of course, you have to hide the brown part. Looks pretty cool if done right.

3. Ice: Use fort pieces as the floor, hide the brown part. These are the only pieces that look a bit like ice at all.

4. Snow tops: Use tombstones and put them on any object's surface to make it look like there's a heap of snow on top of the object.

5. Small snow slopes: Use tombstones also. Place them on the floor, around objects. It has a nice effect, as it makes objects look as if they stood within a snow heap.

Got any more tips? Post them here...

pile up the ground and paint it with urban ground

or maybe, paint the ground with wavy sand, and then lightly go over that with urban ground

Far Cry 2's crumby water looks much better with the fog turned up a bunch. Karr used industrial warehouse floors turned upside-down and put them just under the water's surface to make it seem like it was frozen over. It was a pretty cool idea.

Then there's also the way I did the snow on the roofs of the cabins on my Winter Lodge map.

By taking Concrete fences and placing them so that one is upside down and the other isn't, making the  bottoms of them touch so the hollow part can't be seen. Then just tilt them to the angle you need and copy-paste like a maniac. Smiley

I got the inspiration for Winter Lodge from this map. http://fcmaps.com/p/maps/maps.php?view.0A3E66B5F9F5
I didn't really use any of his techniques, but once I saw that a snow map was possible I had to try it myself.
Upon closer looking at the pics it seems he was using a lot of the ideas just listed. I always though he used platform 2 for the ground and stuff...

Yeah, that could take a while and might not yield consistent results. Tongue

ICE AGE I think it was called.
I'm pretty sure Snakes5112 also made a snowy map at one point... not sure if it's still up. *Ice Glace* was the name if I'm correct.
