wow, great list of mappers Negrumir! Cheesy

the ones who have inspired me the most, in random order;

sniperira; if it wouldn't be for his star wars map, i would probably never get very intrested in the map editor. that map really gave me an idea of what could be done, but that map showed out to be only a fraction of what you really could make.

x_maxpower; i remember playing some of his first maps, and i just got hooked on him lol. i checked the community for new maps from him every day Tongue

captainDeez; one of the first mappers i discovered, after playing ewok village and two worlds. checked out the rest of his maps, and they were truely inspiring and wonderful.

saxc; he watched one of my youtube vids, showing the golden ak close to rail xing, and found out i was a norwegian, and played fc2, just like him. we checked out eachothers maps, and without him, i never would've found this site Smiley he intreduced me to the potm contest, which i won the first time i entered Grin

negrumir and mastikore; both made extremely accurate, beautiful, abstract maps, and i love abstract Cheesy

colaboy; beautiful map layouts, very natural, could've been something picked right out of the game, never seen anyone else making so nicelooking natural maps.

bongobreak; his maps are always nice looking, nice detail and fun to play. took me a while to find out what his name really was, cus the maps are signed GARETH, but i found out lol.

osamastylez; soon after i joined this site, i started to play a lot with him. his maps are very cool, fun to play, and he gave me a lot of ideas.

menace-76; can't remember what map i first played by him, but it made me very intrested in his way of making maps. think i had almost all of his maps downloaded, and thats a lot of maps, with both menace-76 and menace--76, think it was around 30-35 maps.

jumodu94; wow is all i have to say, think he is one of my favorite mappers. crazy maps, always a blast to play them.

sabretooth; i explained in my first post on this tread.

sizzling_sar; loved his maps from first sight, gave me a lot of inspiration

later on i met more of you guys, yoz, dwc, undead, robeir, snakes, warlord, kc, cherub and all the others of you. you always keep me inspired, and show me new ways to use different objects on so on in the editor Smiley

i also want to thank the guys in xbox. i don't have a xbox myself, but i've seen some of the maps. The bastapyth was probalby the map which made me love abstract maps, and made me use the colonial fences in a lot of different ways Cheesy

can't wait to see what some of you guys are going to make with crysis 2 Grin

Thx for the compliments, I aslo get inspired by most of the mappers active in the community.(too many to name all Smiley)

I was most inspired by Max_power's outpost, after that map I learned the technique of making circles.

I was also inspired by mapbuilder's tutorials, in which I saw u could draw a selection box in fc2, that realy made mapping a lot faster and more fun.

Yeah, that selection box helped a lot when I first learned about it.
And the damn, undo button!!!  I didn't know about that until sometime after my 20th map.

Wish there was a control guide like most games within the map maker.  It would sure help if they explained everything about the map maker controls instead of making us guess what the they were.

There is a guide to the map maker... but it's separate and costs money. It'd probably be better if we all got together and made up our own guide... By the time we'll be done, FC2 will likely be completely dead though. lol

I don't quite agree with you about maps like the Millennium Falcon not deserving the credit they got. Sure, it could be a better map... and there are lots of better maps out there. But I'm sure there was plenty of work put into the map to build it.

Just 'cause other maps don't get the recognition they should doesn't mean we should take away from those who did.

I mean, take that map "Gotcha" By LoosinGrip. You say it's an excellent map (I'm not saying it isn't) and it has tons of downloads and imitators. That map could not have taken any more than ten minutes to make. It's the definition of "Simple but effective." But really, it doesn't take a genius to make a map like that, it's as basic as they come yet it's very well known. We shouldn't disregard it as overrated just because it got recognition and something else didn't.

It's also annoying that a lot of people hate well known mappers like Maxpower, CaptainDEEZ, and Colaboy. Some people just hate them and their maps just 'cause they're popular. Then, if anyone (like me) tries to defend them, we get labeled as suck-up or called out as being a kiss-ass. I truly wish Ubisoft had added more player maps to ranked mode. I could easily find over a hundred maps that would qualify. (And yes, a few of mine should be up there)

The thing is, every map should at least be given a chance at success. Some people just hit it at the right time and they get tons of downloads. Others release and entire page of maps and not a single one gets played. I try to view maps in as good a light as possible. look at it and see the good in it, even if there's far more bad. Giving feedback to the author on maps that could be just thrown away as garbage may instead lead them to create a masterpiece that no one else would have made. Smiley
