Is there a mapmaker who really inspires you? Someone who always surprises you with his/her awesome mappingskils, and you get really excited every time you see one of his/her new maps?

Give them a thumb up here, just to let them know you appreciate their work and efford to make the map community richer and better Smiley

My first thumb up goes to a mapper I've always looked up to. His maps are stunning and always incredible detailed, yet the maps are not laggy Grin I think OnR_Duty calls is my favorite map of his maps. Thumb up to SABRETOOTH1971 Smiley

I'd say Fallen Champ. For me, he always has made maps that are fun to play on and well balanced. They've got a unique style that sets them slightly apart from the rest. Mainly, they're just my kind of maps. Smiley

Thank you.
I get inspiration from any map that does something new, realistic, or uses something in a creative way that I haven't thought of yet.  So here's a list of a few of the inspiring mappers since I started playing FC2:

sniperira - With that first star wars map.

x_maxpower - With all of that extra attention to detail and the action packed maps that came from him.  Knocking ideas back and forth always led to some interesting new map ideas between us.

ColaBoy - With the great detail and realistic scenery along with maps that are extremely playable.

Clapp-Cap - For making some small action packed and very detailed maps that used quite a bit of creativity.  I've asked him if I could use his "archway underwater pass from Roundabout in my Two Worlds map."  Which could really use a makeover.  It's way too large of a play area.

metallicamaniac - For some creative use of buildings when making all of his many city maps.

SABRETOOTH1971 - For some very detailed and very creative maps.  I was admiring some of his maps back before I ever knew what OnR was.

menace--76, memento2001 & all of the others that constantly entered the PoTM contest with their creative new maps.  Always coming up with good layouts for full size maps and arena maps.

KC-350Z - With some creative new ways to use items like in his HELL map.

Negrumir, Jumodu94, & bongobreak - For showing that new creativity and enthusiasm in mapping and producing some great maps when I thought this game was dying out.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but you 3 haven't been playing since it came out have you?

And if I missed anybody, I'm sure you're included in the many other maps that inspired me.

Thanks yoz and deez Smiley

All the mappers that have been mentioned are truly deserving of a big thumbs up from me too.

I'd like to mention Mastikore (Locus) whose often bizarre, abstract maps are so fantastic looking, with such intricate detailing.
Also yoz, whose maps always play and look great, and his enthusiasm for mapping is so contagious Smiley

I would also like to mention the elusive MapBuilder (FCmaps) - he's a 360 mapper but his early, innovative R&D maps are so incredible and full of ideas.

Yeah, I got the game a few months after it came out. For a while I only played the Single player, then I tried the map editor and I was hooked.
If I recall correctly, sniperia's Star-wars map was the highest rated and most played at the time. I think it had 5k downloads. lol

I still gotta Give max a thumb's up for putting Fcmaps.net ad's in some of his maps. I don't know if I'd ever have found it otherwise. And without this community, I'd probably not hang around as long as I have.

I agree entirely with Deez' list there. I was discussing who the best mappers where and who made good maps. Seriously, the list is huge of people that know how to make a good map.

I think I'll post as much of it as I can remember.

In whatever order they come to mind:...

creativity is good  Grin. my maps look weird though and lack creativity.
they are too fake looking for realism( with layout and all ) but they are not too fake either( kinda like a space ship map or something like that ).
i just map something that would be chaotic, detailed, and fun. i think i accompished that much lol Wink

tnx bongo and negrumir

i don't see my self to be a big influence in the history in map making.....i just copy paste  Tongue
the only thing i can take credit for is the start of CDG clan and maps and may i add we are on our third page already, 21 CDG maps.... Cool

NY fair and the explanation from menace in Dutch on the use on the snaptool opened a entire new chapter for me in terms of mapmaking...
And really gave FC2 a second life for me...

i would like to give a thumbs up to ubi soft for giving us FC2......
( if there was a thumbs down they would get that 2 for other reasons....)

ubi soft is a bad word....hahaha   ubisoft   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Thanks for the mentions...nice to know something I did had a positive influence on the community.

Alot of talented map makers mentioned here, so I won't list everyone again. Just a few people and maps that had a significant influence on me.

In the first few months of FC2, there really weren't many people doing creative maps. I got inspiration from the 360 maps I saw pics and videos of...360 player 'XxXcashndashXxX' inspired my first custom map, 'Atrium'. I think that really opened some eyes to the possibilities of indoor, custom structures for the PS3 community.

As Deez mentioned, we were both searching for ideas back then and figuring out the possibilities. Every time I saw one of his maps, it would push me to do more. Underdark really made an impression, and made me think outside the box. It seems like he was putting out new massive creations every few days...it was great to see what came next. That reminds me...what ever happened to the Wayne manor idea?

'Paradise Ravine' by AngryAce. Was the first custom map I ever played, and it was the most popular FC2 map in the beginning. I eventually made a map based on that called Max kill.

Manlius10a made me take the quality of my maps seriously. He pushed me to make all the details as perfect as possible.

KC-350z's 'HELL' map was maybe the most unique map in FC2 when it was published. He really had some great creations in there.

Map Builder's elevators brought new life into the editor.

unfazed420 made a map called Space case that was another creative milestone...fresh ideas.

xentrix74 inspired me with his simple yet detailed maps. Also that the background can make a map so much better.

'Research Facility' by dj333hill gave me alot of ideas for many creations.

Colaboy for showing that great maps are made by their layout, details...and terrain matters!

And finally, the newer wave of map makers who have taken what they've seen to the next level. It's really amazing to see what you guys come up with now.

Wayne manor is still a possibility.
Want to do a co-op?
I'll lay it out and then you can make some things within and I'll do the finishing touches. ??

Yeah I could do some work on it. I think theres a map out there called Bruce Wayne manor or Wayne manor already, wasnt too bad from the outside but failed on the inside.
