Some of you may have been following the recent thread over on the ubi site about an update.

Ubi has confirmed that support for FC2 is officially done. Unless there's a major bug, nothing further will be done. No chance at MP enhancements or updates, no more updates to ranked or recommended lists...nothing. I think most already knew this, but a few held out hope that Ubi might respond to the community. As I stated in that thread, Ubi employs a 'smash amd grab' business model, and support will always suffer in that environment. I don't begrudge them for making a profit, but the bottom line is all that matters to them. They have no loyalty to the fans, and the fans will have no loyalty to them. They should have issued an apology for the online product they put out. Without the map editing community this game would have died last yr.

I'm looking forward to Crysis 2 and hope the online experience is everything and more that FC2 should have been. We are looking into adapting fcmaps.net to support the Crysis 2 maps and mods when that game is released.

I'm guessing that I'm not the only one expecting this to happen. At least they said something rather than endless silence. (I've seen a few other games go that way.)

I too, am looking forward to Crysis 2. However I generally disapprove of EA and their ways. They are publishing the game and really hope that's the only part they'll do.

I also heard that a lot of the guys from Free Radical (who Crytech bought and who made the awesome Timesplitters games.) are working on the multiplayer part of the game. I don't think any bad could come of that.

It's very iffy as to whether I'll get FC3. It may be a good game but If Ubi does the same thing then it'll go downhill quick. The only reason for getting it would be that it's awesome enough without patches to begin with. Then, all Ubi's gotta do is stop flicking the "server power" switch instead of the light switch. Tongue

i was looking at getting crysis 2 abd will get fc3 for the story mode, fc2 was amazing! but the multiplayer let down fc2 and free radical are AMAZING when it comes to multiplayer, just play Time splitters future perfect and see what i mean...i dont even have the online mode but they gave it a map maker and AI to play against in custom maps on story or multiplayer. as for the range of modes its quite incredible how many unique ones there are, virus is my personal favourite especially on the zepplin, just camp on the engines and the AI malfunction and run straight into the engines fan blades, makes quite a mess!!

I had that timesplitters and the first one.  I liked them both.
The map maker was my favorite thing, but none of my friends were any good at the game so it was pretty much always me handing them their @$$es.
