If you're considering what I am, the yes, we both should feel dirty.

Seriously, why can't some of these game companies understand that a simple editor like this will sell games and consoles? Hell, take the rotting corpse known as MAG and add a simple editor...I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Not one upcoming FPS game on PS3 that's confirmed to have an editor. Must...resist...dark side

That looks mighty impressive. I've been tempted to 'stray' before, I nearly had a nervous breakdown when I heard Splinter Cell: Conviction wasn't coming to the PS3 - so I went and got it for the PC. This however, looks too interesting to pass by.... I just can't justify paying the yearly subscription for LIVE....oh, and going back to that perpetual worry of RRoD.... **shivers** urgh!!! Oh what a dilemma....suppose I should take a shower now

I did the 'math' on what it would take to get into this game...a refurbed xsux360, controller, Live, and the game would cost around $250. Fortunately I have kids in the house that would use it too...justifying the cost a bit more.
Bottom line is that it looks like a blast to play. Imagine the types of games you can create with those vehicles and jet packs!

That seems like quite a chunk of cash max and I don't have any children to justify it - I'm not sure how much the same deal would be here in UK, but I have a hunch it would be more expensive - everything is unfortunately - I'm pretty sure the yearly LIVE subscription is £50 alone. But you're right, it sure looks tempting, and those jetpacks - it might all be worth it for just those lol

No doubt its a bit expensive...but when I think back to the amount of entertainment I got out of the FC2 editor, it may very well be worth it. I'm intrigued because making successful maps with Forge really focuses on the game flow and how creative you can be with a ltd set of options. In FC2 you can have a popular map based solely on a particular theme or unique structure, regardless of how the level plays. Having a successful map in Reach would be challenging because it's harder to be unique AND it must have great game flow. Oh, and did I mention jetpacks!!! Anyways...here's a brief demo of the Forge editor. http://www.youtube.com/v/Bily4W8U7vg&hl=en_US&fs=1

It looked great except for one thing. You can't make your own scenery. I don't think the replay value of that one will stay up. If the FC2 editor was like that, we would have run out of possibilities a long time ago.
The graphics are awesome though.

Based on the success of Halo, I would assume the game play is much better and more fun than FC2. I think that would help ensure the replay value stays high. As I said, the challenge would be to create something unique while providing great game play. Imagine the course maps you could create with the vehicles and jetpacks...things that would never work in FC2. We create all these great works of 'art' in FC2 and there is barely anyone around to play them because of the poor mp ubi gave us. I know some of you enjoy the mp in FC2, but I've always found it horrendously bad. If ubi had made the mp as anything but a cheap afterthought, I wouldn't even be considering this. Obviously, I think the FC2 editor is the greatest thing on any console ever...but I want to have fun playing too. This appears to be the only other option available in the near future.

I'm not saying it would be bad. It would just wear out quicker than FC2. I'd love to make some maps in the Forge. But I'm sure after a few months of playing it, everything would start to look the same.
If I had a 360, I'd be right there though.

Well I have played Halo and I enjoy it a lot. Unfortunately it's one of those recharging energy shield games no if you think FC2 is bad on the number of hits to kill, this'll add the fact that it recharges in a few seconds into it as well. Though for custom matches I think you can tweak it a lot. As for gameplay, I don't think it even has irons sights so it'll play like a really slow version of UT3. (which would make it a decently fast game anyway.) A very nice scif fi / ordinary weapons loadout has a lot of variety in how the weapons operate. (Not just a ton of bullet-shooting guns like FC2.) Lots of vehicles include jeeps, atvs, hover-bike-things, tanks, flying-alien things, and a few others. All of which have room for passengers.
The thing I like about Halo is how most everything has a physics model and can be moved. The physics are great fun to play with. And as you saw in the video, now even huge building have a physics model and can be moved.
One of the most fun things for me would be the split-screen. I would have bought a ton more games if they had split-screen. (Note to game companies, people still have close friends and family they;d love to play with without having to buy three more consoles.
I think just the fact that Halo has a larger number of players means even junk maps will get more exposure. I don't think it'll get old for a long time. Even halo 3's not-so-amazing forge is incredibly popular still. The modes are far more in depth and have many tweaks to them. There are power-ups as well like invisibility and an extra strong shield. This also isn't one of those games like CoD where you unlock better weapons as you rank up. you only get more customization options for your looks but weapons are picked up around the map so you won't find an entire team of snipers camping your face off. (But if you want a single weapon only match, you can set that in the options.)
If you've seen any of the Youtube videos then you'll know you're gonna get tea-bagged a lot if you die. more players = more immature kids + Xbox live has more of that to begin with.
Needless to say, If I had a 360 I'd get this game in a heartbeat. But I think the price of admission is a bit to high for one game. Not to mention the ridiculous failure rate for 360s which I think is at around 50% last I heard. If they had fixed that with the new slim one I might've gotten it, but alas they left the flaw in there. (which I'm sure was done intentionally at this point, seriously, like 3 years and it still isn't fixed? Suspicious? You bet.)
I think I'll wait and see how the whole Crysis 2 things turns out. If it's got a console editor then forget Halo: Reach, if not, then there's a lot higher chance that you'll see me on Xbox live.

Sounds like a pretty unique game. I'm sure it would be fun. Might have to find a cheap 360 if you all plan on getting it. Making some good custom player maps in Forge World just might be fun.
