The grappling hook is what the game focuses on.
It's one of the most unique devices I've ever seen in a game. Sure, I've seen grappling hooks before in games (for example Mercenaries 2) but you couldn't use them in unique ways like in JC2.

So discuss the grapple here.

If you have ideas for some creative tethering, also post them here.  Tongue

Zelda games have grapplinghooks Cheesy
There's also a mod for Quake I that has a grapplinghook.
Prototype also has something like it Cheesy

But the one in JC2 is pretty unique.

Mercenaries 2 has a grappling hook too.
And there's a grappling hook mod for Doom 2, you can grapple enemies with it and pull them towards you, then give 'em a kick in the face. Juggle-Melee-Kill.  Tongue
