At FCMaps we are Doing a Theme for February.
Hopefully other sites will run a Theme and we will pass it around.

Here are some details and a link to the original draft.

I decided to go ahead with a Monthly Theme - there are 6 choices for anyone that might be interested in taking part.

It could be a good laugh if people get involved, for me a Theme is a way of mappers showing different ways of creating the same end product - it can be excellent to see what people come up with and what items they use.

I did a lot of these on Far Cry Predator and was always amazed to see things - mostly ideas I never even thought of, it is also a good way to bring out the best in some people.

http://fcmaps.com/p/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?85512.0

That above is a link to the choices.
In Short
Theme 1.
Explosive & Destructable

Theme 2.
An Arena Map

Theme 3.
Whacko Jacko

Theme 4.
Trench Warefare

Theme 5.
Natural Africa Style

Theme 6.

BFB - Big Fooking Bridge

I will check back here on any votes - if after this Theme ONR or B3E or DEEZ want to run a Theme for a month then thats great, so long as we get enough people and it is enjoyed then we can keep doing these.

I would say we need to pick the Theme by February the 1st and the map must be finished and Published by March the 1st.

Once submitted the map will not be allowed any re-edits so must be in a finished state before submitting.
Feel free to comment or leave feedback - and please only vote for a Theme if you have the intention of taking part.

Cheers

Sorry yoz303303 - BFB won, even with your vote it would still have won by 1
Here is an update so far. Entries to be finished by Midnight Feb 28th 2010 (GMT)

Ok we have some maps slowly starting to trickle out to the players, I have to say Kudos to Menace76 for firing his at us with no fear whatsoever.

It is currently called B3E BF Bridge I am unsure if it is finished but it's shaping up very nicely indeed.

Then Negrumir has his map Parch To Plenty which also looks great from the editor.

Undead_Avenger has been beta testing one which is damn hard but addictive - snipers will love this, It is an insane and crazy map.

Then we have this BFB Map below which I don't want to say much about, You will find out who it's by very soon I am sure.

I can't wait to see what others get made and thrown into the Theme - it is starting to look pretty tasty.

I have a map in progress but its very early on.
This below has been scrapped, I might do something with it another day.

This is my current entry - I was lucky enough to get Jumodu94 to place 2 elevators in the towers for me, I need to raise the whole thing up and add a floor and bases at each side.

As you can see I have a long way to go.

Thats where we are at at the moment.

I think the deadline was the End of Febuary.

After seeing the maps that have been on show for this theme so far, I got kind of embarassed by my first effort and have gone back to the drawing board so to speak. These pics are my first attempt.

I started from scratch and came up with something that should be worthy of being entered into this comp.
It's still quite a way from being finished, but looks so much better than my other already. I've still got bases to build either side, and maybe even a dock to allow access to the water to allow for larger objective based games. I'll see what happens. Smiley
This is what I have so far anyway.

Too late or not, I'm almost done with my BFB map.  Got to place a few more details, run through it a couple times, and place the multiplayer items and I'm done.

Here's another update of where I'm upto with mine.

I'm not too far from being finished now, I have some terrain work to do on the APR side so anybody deciding to swim can get out of the water easily and buildings to place and decorate, and hopefully provide enough cover for players to move around without being picked off too easily by even the most useless sniper

Each side has a dock and a boat and 2 cars each for faster travel in between capture points and diamonds, teamwork will be recomended though.

As for the bridge itself, it's been complete for a few days now. It's got many crashed cars, busses and trucks to act as cover for those traveling on foot and is navigable using the cars.

Once I've completed the opposite ends of the bridge all that needs doing is placing spawns, ammo crates and some foliage. It should (with any luck) be ready for it's first outing at some point on saturday.

hey yoz, yeah, to get the screenshots, you use the snapshot tool in the editor to take the picture, then save. Then take another and save again under a different name eg. MyMap pic2,
Repeat until you have all the pictures you want, remembering to save under a different name each time. It's a bit of a pain, but is the best way to do it without having a capture card in your pc.

Then quit the game and goto the save data utility on the xmb and copy the savefiles to a usb pendrive and move over to your pc, take the pics from the file in the ps3/savedata folders and upload to a file hosting website. I use www.fileden.com but others use sites such as www.photobucket.com.

Hope that helps dude.

Sounds kind of tedious, but that will do it.
