There is a demo for Crysis (not one for 2 yet) It has no editor.

You'd have to get the full game to try it out.

My PC doesn't run it so spectacularly, I gotta keep it on the lower settings. It covers all the requirements with ease except the video card. I got an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3330 which just doesn't seem to be enough for the high-end options. I do kinda wish it  was possible to upgrade this video card, but it's a laptop so I really can't. I didn't really buy this for gaming though, that's what my PS3 is for. Smiley

Regardless, it's fully playable. But the editor will come with the full game.

Thanks Neg, the reason I mentioned it is because I read a post here (near the bottom of the page) from Clivey (Crymod staff on incrysis.com) and he states that the full sandbox editor is available with the Crysis demo, but the maps are not playable in the demo environment, just 'testable' in the editor. It sounded great for practicing some editor features for free, but I suppose it does sound too good to be true.

I realise that these are quite old posts, and I've also checked out the link he posted to Cryteks Official Modding site - crymod.com, but couldn't find anything about it there. So I guess this Clivey dude's wrong - shame really, I was all set to download the demo and start mapping, guess I'll wait for Crysis 2....or do like you or max and buy it from Ebay (or somewhere else)....if it's still out there Wink

Well dang, after looking in the actual folder for the Crysis demo, there is a sandbox installer.  Shocked

I think it's safe to say I was wrong and yes, there is an editor in the demo, It'll probably be lacking some features though. I'm gonna play with it now. Smiley

Wow, great news Neg (not about you being wrong lol - about there being an editor in the demo  Tongue ), I'll go ahead and find a reliable source to download it now. Smiley

BTW, according to that Clivey dude, the demo includes the full sandbox editor, with nothing removed, the only thing is that the maps created can only be played in the release version, and not the demo - I can live with that though Wink

Where did you get your demo from Neg? Did you download it? If so, from where?

I got it from here.

http://www.crysisdemo.com/download.htm

Just pick a mirror and wait a good long time. lol (Or in Yoz' case, about 7.3 seconds. Tongue )

To install the sandbox editor, you'll have to go into the folder you installed the demo in.( C:\Program Files\ Electronic Arts\Crysis Demo\ ) By default.

And look for the folder called "Sandbox2 installer" Make sure to install it in the same folder as the demo. I don't think it'll make a shortcut for the ,exe file by default but it'll be in the Bin32 or Bin64 folder.  Just chose the one that is the same as your OS type (64 bit systems = Bin 64 32 bit = bin32.)

The editor is quite the beast to bend to your will. This'll be like trying to cook a five course, top-of-the-line, feast after microwaving a hop pocket if you compare it to the FC2 editor. lol

That tutorial Max posted is extremely helpful. Cheesy Thanks dude.

Thanks a million Neg, I'll get onto that tomorrow, though as you say, I'm definitely a 'microwaving a hop pocket' kinda guy lol, so I'll probably still be learning it when Far Cry 17 is released  Grin Cheesy

Virus you say yoz, I didn't downlod it via torrent, I went with one of those direct downloads, and it came in quite quickly, all done in a couple of hours.

I haven't installed it yet, not sure if my laptop will handle it either, I'm wondering if I could use my wired 360 controller to make life a bit easier - probably not though. I wish we didn't have to use the keyboard, I'm so rigidly conditioned to the controller  Grin

Yeah, I wouldn't do torrents unless you have a dedicated pc for downloading.

I went to my local gamestation today and picked up both Crysis and Crysis Warhead for just £2 each  Shocked
I've just had an hour or so in SP on Crysis, and if Crysis 2 is going to be anything like this, it'll be a world beater - it's utterly fantastic.

I've had a quick look at the editor too, and I can quite confidentally state that I haven't got the faintest idea where to start, or how to do anything lol
There isn't a guide book or any form of tutorial supplied with it, and it looks overwhelmingly complicated. There is no way that this kind of editor is going to be included in any console version of Crysis 2 - it will have to be massively simplified.

Nevertheless, I'm going to persevere and try to make a 'map' - maybe I learn something for when we get Crysis 2 Smiley

I can't install the editor Sad It might be because my laptop has windows 7.
