Would be a shame if there is no editor, that was the main thing I was looking forward to. Had a look at the trailer the other day though and it does look like quite a good single player game so I may still be tempted to buy it once the price drops. I'll tell you what someone need to do, they need to bring out a game that is just a map editor that you can take online, SO there's no SP game taking up space on the disc just a massive editor and online modes, kinda like MAG but instead of going on the same map over and over and over, you get to make the maps, publish them, then play them with up to 64 players, that would be ace  Grin

CryEngine 3 is a game engine released by Crytek on October 14, 2009.[1]

On March 11, 2009, Crytek announced that it would introduce CryEngine 3 at the 2009 Game Developers Conference, held from March 25 to March 27. The new engine is being developed for use on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. As for the PC platform, the engine is said to support development in DirectX 9, 10, and 11.[2][3]

This sounds quite promising. Assuming the editor will be a bit easier for when designing stuff for consoles...

The fact that they're planning that technology gives good enough reason to hope so again.

Crysis 2 seems like it will be in limbo about whether is has an editor or not until it releases.  Undecided

I wish they'd just come out and say it so I could either have something to look forward to or just forget it entirely.

The minute they say so, if so, I'll be talking about the game non-stop in anticipation of a new map maker for ps3.

Here's the first video I've seen of some multiplayer from Crysis 2

like: graphics, objects(if we can use it in the editor) indoors, high jumps ad high climbing, camouflage

dis like: the dude playing!(how can you miss the first melee attack and jump or take cover once...) sound of the guns..sounds like a Russian factory

not sure of the backgrounds yet...cool that there is multy player footage, beta should be almost ready then

Well it looks okay, it seems like it won't take 3 assault rifle mags to kill someone. Even the idiot playing was able to kill people quickly... when he was actually aiming at them. I mean, come on! Tell me what buttons do what and in 30 seconds, I guarantee you I'd beat that entire team, heck, both teams by myself. Standing still while shooting, just standing there, not taking cover, generally 2+ second reaction time to anything, and whatever they were shooting at near the end he wasn't even aim towards most of the time, just firing into the sky like everyone else. There's a six-year-old kid with some sort of deficiency who occasionally I've played games with. I know for a fact that he could beat those guys hands down. lol

The gun sounds also are really odd, they sound like some of the stuff from Lilo and Stitch. rofl. FC2 has pretty nice gun sounds but things like this and MW2 have some really goofy sounds. They're nothing like any real world gun, and don't even sound like any weapon they're supposed to represent, alien or normal.

But I do like that he took a pretty long fall and didn't die. That's a bonus.

It's really hard to tell how good the multiplayer is when they have the thumbless-wonders trying to operate the control sticks with their balms. Tongue Grin

Thanks for the video Max. It looks great doesn't it? Cheesy I will only be getting it if it's on ps3, because I doubt my laptop can handle that game. You can survive big falls on that, can't you? I can imagine getting pissed off because of someone falling from somewhere high up, killing you and surviving the fall.

Yerli also noted to Game Reactor how the Crysis style of sandbox level design should come as something new to console first person shooters. One of the flaws in the original Crysis he cited was that there were no console versions. Yerli specifically said that New York was not chosen because of the limitations of console hardware in developing Crysis 2 across platforms.

I don't think that means that there is going to be an editor.  It looks like it just means that the consoles will be able to handle the levels the game is comprised of.

http://mycryengine.com/index.php?conid=43 i think it is here about the sandbox, with CryENGINE® 3 your team will build levels for their games in days, not weeks, make changes on 3 platforms at once, in real-time and achieve greater quality, at a lower cost. For me it sound like ´´yes there is goin to be dandbox for ps3 and 360.´´  Wink

Seems awesome right? Sadly, I think that only comes with their development software. I kinda doubt they'd ship it with every Crysis 2 copy so who knows.
I'd love a full blown editor for Crysis 2 on consoles... But my hopes are pretty low. As many have said, if they were planning an editor, they'd be preaching it like the end of the world.
