I bought Crysis 2 today. Or shall I say Cloakis 2. First thing I have to say, the cloak suit in MP is absolutely GAY! Excuse my language, but it's the most fooking annoying thing since the AR on FC2. Cheap as hell.
Anyway, let's start with the positive stuff: The graphics look fantastic. Effects are cool, and everything looks pretty shiny and well polished. The problem: The FPS drops to about 15 at certain times, apparently the PS3 cannot handle it. Gameplay seems ok too, controls are easy to learn...
As for MP, there's a matchmaking system which allows to tweak several parameters like nanosuit functions (whether they're allowed or not), health, health regeneration speed, forced weapon loadouts etc. That could make for some really fun gameplay with friends. Those matches are automatically private, though, so it's not possible to customize a public match, neither it is possible to host one.
Now the bad stuff: The game is pretty laggy overall, which especially is annoying in MP mode of course. MP is laggier than on FC2 by about 100 times at certain points, which is damn annoying. You empty a half clip into someone's head and then he would shoot you, and that seemed to happen with nearly every player. Then as I said, there's this cloak suit function which is totally made for pussies (excuse my language) and campers. Let me explain the difference between this cloak suit and KZ3's cloak suit and why this is way more annoying than KZ3's cloaksuit. Kz3's cloaksuit is only enabled while standing completely still. Moving will immediately make the cloak ripple and give your position away. On this, the cloaksuit can be activated during movement as well. It deducts energy, but the energy regenerates quite fast so you can activate it over and over again with little breaks in between, plus while you're standing it deducts about 60% less energy than while moving, which makes it perfect for campers. While cloaked, enemies will see your outlines, but those are easily overseeable during any encounter. From far, it's very hard to detect a cloaked enemy, which also makes the cloak perfect for campers. The gameplay is unbalanced due to the fact that those abilities are totally unbalanced, to sum it all up, plus the spawns seem to be fucked up as well. Once an enemy would spawn right behind me and shoot me in the back. Not so amusing.
The matchmaking seems interesting though, so maybe it wasn't a complete mistake to buy the game. As soon as I'll play some more, I'll continue the review.

ROFLMAO.
Hmm. I shouldn't have been bothered to write a rather long rant - those words would've summed pretty much everything up.
After playing another few matches, of which some were ok while others sucked due to enemy campers, I quit playing C2 and went back to KZ3.
It's kinda sad really; I mean the question is: Why is this big ass company which has thousands of employees unable to create decent network gameplay? Especially considering that 10 guys who worked on a open source game like Cube or Red Eclipse are able to do that. Crysis 1 was bad enough already, EA messed up the second part to the "MAXIMUM". While Crytek seems to be unable to create decent gameplay, with it's semi-open world level concepts which are total fail to me.
To sum it all up again: MAXIMUM CAMPERS. MAXIMUM ANNOYANCE. MINIMUM FPS.

Cod games are pretty much the best selling games on any platform. That's your answer. Crysis 2 plays almost exactly like CoD. Just with powers and big jumps and all that. EA is all about money and that's it. They sell what people will buy and since everyone buys CoD, they want to sell their own CoD.

So being laggy, full of bugs, unbalanced and perfect for cowardish pussies that use unfair advantages to gain the upper hand is part of CoD? If that's so then no wonder EA made Crysis 2 like that.
At some points KZ3 is like that as well. Using marksman for example is ok, but I hate it when people camp in one corner where they're totally safe from all attacks. The problem is that campers sometimes force me to camp as well, because running around the battlefield would make me a sitting duck because marksmen are cloaked. So it's either about switching to a more defensive role, or trying to go ballistic and burst through an amount of players before you get the chance to take down the campers (which is difficult if there are many of them). That ruins the gameflow a bit. But for that, I blame the players.
And then again I absolutely hate this XP system, which is similar in all FPS. I don't give a fuck about ranking up, seriously it's the last thing games need IMO. But unfortunately, a player ranked 1 won't have a chance against ranked 10 on games like KZ3 or C2, so you may as well call me a "ranking whore".
Either make the special abilities BALANCED and accessible to ALL players at the same time OR disallow them. All. I've said that before.

I'm gonna change my opinion a bit.
I finished campaign about one hour ago. It's about 3 times as long as COD's campaign, and I have to say they did put some effort in there, it's not as bad as I've expected it to be when I played the first missions. Has got some fun moments, of course that doesn't change the fact on most of the missions you'll spend too much time on running from point A to B only to be interrupted by some annoying enemy grunts.
First missions are a bit boring, that was the initial problem that made me think SP completely sucks. It gets more interesting as you go further. So I'll officially revoke my earlier opinion when I said "SP completely sucks" - it does not. It's definitely okay, considering the quality of nowadays' games.
Checkpoint system sucks though, so unless you're playing on easy, the game might get frustrating quite fast.
As I said graphics are good.
Yes there's some positive stuff about this game, I'd definitely say SP is far superior to MP, infact if you compare SP to MP it's like comparing gold to dog poo, because MP is a fucking laggy mess and total crap. If they focused on SP more, they could've made it closer to perfection.
MP is a F. I'd give the SP mode a C+ or B-, so not bad.
Saying this is the best FPS ever is too much. I've heard many people saying that on PSN. It's not. It's still average to decent, but it's far from perfect.

it is a good game, in my opinion the SP is good, if a repetitive (which it definitely is sort of go here and there and dont die on the way) it has a decent storyline. the suit responds well to any tactic you want to try so if tactics are not your thing then it doesnt matter, armour can get you through most serious fights. I managed to slug it out on Super Soldier which is not dreadfully hard, getting through veteran on CoD is FAR harder for me. As for multiplayer, there is time when it lags, but i havent seen it too bad yet. i tend to stay on the crash site game mode (like HQ for CoD for those who dont know) TDM and DM are noob fests if i am honest, i detest them. the unlock system works well for me, but I tend to stick with the SCAR as my defualt weapon, but the other weapons are far from underused. on my 20th game i had a KD of 1.88 and had been MVP for 6 or so of the matches. Crysis 2 is definitely one of my best games, I never played the first one, but the controls are pretty self explanatory. I also seem to be pretty good at it too

What's better in your opinion?
Crysis 2 or Modern Warfare (any of them)

Its hard to say which is better, they are very different games. sure they both involve killing shed loads of enemies but the Nano suit in crysis takes the game play up a notch, but the story mode is repetitive. I would say that they are pretty much equal for me, but I would say crysis is slightly better because of the tactical options of having a Nano suit, rather than MW run and gun millions of bad guys, hollywood style. but hey, thats just me.
